I thought I would test out this forum to see if it works for our group!

It may be worth looking again at day day 2 - here's a link to the padlet via Trello - there may be some ideas we had from earlier on that we want to check in with again. I'm aware that we talked more about growing and education about growing in yesterday's session, when we have also considered cooking & nutrition more earlier, including linking in with Home Economics / HFT teaching. As a group we can maybe look at the scope of the project going forward, so we are happy about what's in / what's out!

We did identify that we wanted to get some clearer questions to put to both Keith Masson who joined us from The Highland Council's Climate Change and Energy team, and also to do similar with someone in Education, and Christine Gordon was suggested.

We may have others we'd like to engage with, e.g. NHS Public Health, Nature Scot - so we have the opportunity to work a bit further on our proposals, and who might be good to get input from.

So will this replace email threads and the google drive we talked about - or will we still do the drive? I don’t mind setting one up, not sure we put a person down to action it?

I missed day 2 so definitely good to get a flavour of what you guys discussed! I agree cooking and eating such a key part.

We mentioned having an interim zoom session - I’d be up for that if others are!

I looked at the free school tree packs - unfortunately the applications are closed for spring - but we can get prepared for putting some in for when they open again for autumn planting

Hi Sheila, Fuggo here in the Community Food group. I plan to contact my local primary school as an individual, regarding whether they still have a small garden. This is Inver in Easter Ross. I wish to do this because I plan to offer seedling plants in the village of Inver (probably in March this year) and want to include the school. I thought I would mention it in case there might be an overlap with plans this group has. I don't want to tread on toes or double up. I am doing this as me , not in connection with the HGF conversation, but do hope to make contacts with the villagers and school in this way.

Happy to help down the line if I can ... my only suggestion at the moment if resources are limited/stretched is that interested folk focus on their local school and see how they can help them specifically, rather than try to address the whole of the Highlands!!
Learning Through Landscapes can help with online resources and help looking for grants. Trying to do it with only local support is often the more sustainable route.
